Great weather & fishing

Hello Anglers, First of all I would like to thank everyone that fished with me in February. There were some good days and there were some days that were on the tuff side. As usual the difficult days were mostly weather dictated days. I'm still amazed at how a meteorologist can miss the wind direction by 90 degrees and the intensity by 10 knots. If you know a weatherman do us all a favor and kick them in the kidneys. For some reason they do not seem to understand that their inaptitude puts some people in harms way. Ok, I need to stop because this rant can go on for hours, ask my wife she is tired of hearing about how I feel about these yoyo's. We are on the cusp at the present time to our spring kickoff. What I mean by that is the bite is about to explode. Snook season is now open and I fully expect to have a great spring snook season. Redfish will get better but the biggest improvement will be the trout and spanish mackerel game. The mackerel have already started in and the big gator trout should be about ready to flood the flats as the water warms. Always something for everyone in the bay. Hope to see you soon. Until next time, good luck and be safe on the water. Remember: don't let your kid be the one that got away, take them fishing! The picture from last month was a roughback batfish. I was surprised by all the responses I received. Thanks for reading. Take care and tightlines, Ric Capt. Ric Liles (813)601-2900
